Hello friends 👋🏻 As 2024 draws nearer, I hope everyone is enjoying the festive season 🎄. Here's a recap of what's been happening over the past week:
Crypto Stuff 🚀
📈 The Markets
$BTC - $43,632.30 is UP 2.0% in the last 7 days
$ETH - $2,204.01 is down 2.4% in the last 7 days
Market activity has been relatively stable, with Bitcoin continuing to rise and draw liquidity away from other coins. This week, there seems to be a bearish sentiment surrounding Ethereum, fuelled by significant FUD about ETH's price. Concurrently, this has sparked discussions about Solana's ($SOL) ascent and its potential to overtake Ethereum as the leading platform for Smart Contracts. What do you think? 🤔
🗞️ The News
🤕 The week began with the Ledger Incident, which CryptoTwitter quickly publicised, resulting in a 'mere' loss of $484K from various wallets. It could have been worse. 🤦🏻♂️
On other not-so-great-but-not-that-bad news, Arbitrum sequencer went down.
Senator Elizabeth Warren, known for her position against Crypto, says crypto firms shouldn’t partner with ex-government officials. She’s been consistently attacking the industry for years now 😒.
🤓 What am I learning?
I’ve been reading about Blue Oceans! 🌊
Blue ocean is an entrepreneurship industry term created in 2005 to describe a new market with little competition or barriers standing in the way of innovators. The term refers to the vast "empty ocean" of market options and opportunities that occur when a new or unknown industry or innovation appears. More here.
It's quite an interesting concept for understanding markets in general: the Red and Blue Ocean strategies. While not new, this approach has caught my attention. It seems like a valuable framework to understand industries and where companies position themselves in the market
🚨 Security Stuff
Cyfrin launched Cryfrin Updraft security & auditing course (22 hours) for those who want to become web3 auditors and help with the security of this space. 💪🏻
🆒 Cool Stuff from the Week
🎧 Podcast episode I’m listening to:
I've been listening to the latest Lex Fridman podcast with Jeff Bezos. I haven’t seen or heard much about Blue Origin, so it was quite an interesting podcast to hear Bezos' long-term view of the space industry! 🛰 Video link here.
🎼 Music I’m enjoying
Lately, I've been obsessed with thematic lo-fi music for working. I've been enjoying Lord of the Rings lo-fi and also some Game of Thrones tracks. It's epic yet chill! 😎
📱 Cool app I’m using
I'm on a quest to find a great app for reading cool stuff - not just news, but also engaging articles, images, and videos. Over the years, I've tried many apps, and recently, I've been using Artifact. So far, it's been a positive experience, effectively curating content that aligns with my interests!
🤔 Quote I’m pondering:
Here’s a quote I like that resonates well with the end-of-year spirit:
📚 What am I reading:
Got two books as my ‘holiday season’ 🎄 books to read:
📖 Last week I started Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind in physical format.
🎧 On audiobook format: Shoe Dog: A memoir for the creator of Nike
Reading this article about RWA: Real World Assets at the moment. 🤓
🫵🏻 One question for you:
Thanks for reading 🙏🏻. Don’t forget to leave any feedback if you have on the comment section!
